Here at Grass Roots Music, we aim to keep you updated on everything that is happening in the Irish music scene. But we feel that the best way to stay in the loop is to go out and experience it for yourself. So here is another edition of top 5 gigs that we think should be top of your agenda this month.

10 February – Foals – 3 Arena

Many of you will be familiar with Foals and even if you don’t recognise the name you have probably sang along to their songs on the radio without realising it was them. “My Number” is one of the bands catchiest songs that I bet you will recognise (Listen here). They are a very popular indie band from the UK and are currently on a massive European tour. The next stop will be Dublin’s 3 Arena.

11 February – Roisin Murphy – Olympia Theatre

Roisin Murphy is one of the most promising female artists in Ireland at the moment.  The Irish singer songwriter was recently nominated for a Mercury prize for her album “Hairless Toys”. She was also one of the main acts announced for Longitude festival this summer but if you cant wait until then you can see her at the Olympia theatre this Thursday.

14th February – August Wells – The Workman’s Club

With Valentines day falling on a Sunday this year, there are a lot of gigs lined up for that weekend. It can be a hectic day for many so why not take it easy and listen to the peaceful tones of August Wells in The Workman’s Club. Tickets are only €10 so once the chaos of trying to find a present has ended, come down and listen to some great music.

26th February  – Craig David – The Wrights Venue

If feels like a lifetime since we’ve heard from Craig David but he is finally back making music and has been met with open arms from fans. His new single “When the Bassline Drops” and this cover of Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” has everyone talking about Craig David again. The ‘Seven Days’ singer ruled the noughties with two hit singles and three top 5 albums. He plays the wrights venue on the 26th but make sure to get tickets soon as this one will defiantly sell out.

29th February – Adele – SSE Arena Belfast

Adele is without doubt one of the biggest artists of the past few years. She has had numerous platinum records and has just recently added to her collection with “Hello” which reached number one in 30 countries worldwide. The 27 year old Londoner will be performing in Belfast at the end of the month. If you can’t secure a ticket don’t worry, she has more Irish dates announced for march that we will keep you updated on.

That is it for this month’s edition of Top 5 Gigs. Hopefully there is something on the list that gets you excited. Be sure to stay tuned to Grass Roots Music as we will keep you posted on all event announcements and music news.
